Frequently Asked Questions

How to Find Us?

Absaroka River adventures is located at 113 West Grove Street ( Hwy. 420 ) in Absarokee.  Just turn West off Main Street ( hwy. 78 ) between the Chrome Bar and the Stillwater Market, and look for us on the right.

What if I have less than 4 people in my group?

We are offering two options. If you would like your own boat you will be charged for a full boat of 4 people.  However, if you opt to not pay for your own boat you WILL have strangers in your boat with you.

What if I have 6 people in my group?

If your group has 6+ people, standard rates apply (rates are based on age and number of people).

What Should I Bring?

We suggest wearing comfortable quick drying clothing such as swimsuits, shorts and quick-dry rash guard type shirts.  Soft-soled shoes or water sandals, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended.  On cooler days, synthetic layers for during or after the trip are a great idea.

What Do We Provide?

We provide top quality, self-bailing rafts, round trip transportation from Absarokee, a cooler for your beverages (if you ask), splash jackets and pants, U.S. coast guard approved life jackets which must be worn at all times and helmets for the Class III section. Wetsuits and Wetsock Booties are available to rent for chilly days. We also have a number of changing rooms on site for your convenience before and after your trip.

What If I Can't Swim?

It doesn't matter!  We take many non-swimmers down the river each year.  All passengers are required to wear life jackets.  In addition, our guides are trained and well versed in river safety.

Can I Bring My Kids?

Children, as well as Seniors, are very welcome.  Minimum age will vary with water conditions.  Children's rates apply to those 12 and under.  Seniors 65 and over save $5 off on our standard half day raft trip.

How Long Does The Trip Take?

The time on the river lasts around 2 hours for a Half Day Trip, depending on the water level and the section of the river we are floating that day.

A Full Day Trip usually takes about 5 hours, including a lunch stop.

What is your Cancelation Policy?

Credit Cards are taken to book your reservation. If you cancel or change your reservation numbers prior to 48 hours in advance of your trip, the card on file will not be charged. Between 48 and 24 hours some refund may be issued. Day of cancelations or No Shows are subject to full charges.

Will My Group Have Our Own Boat?

If you have 4 or more people in your party you will have your own boat. Large groups who book under one may be mixed parties within your large group.-- ie. family reunions who book under 'Jane Doe' for 21ppl will have aproximately 3 boats for your group reguardless of group breakout. If you wish to have groups spread out more we are happy to work with you when arangements are made ahead of time (at least 72 Hours in advance).

Groups of less than 4 people have the option to pay for an entire boat (4 people) and insure your own boat. Opting out of this will mean you will be put on a boat with strangers.

Should I Tip My Guide?

If you enjoy your river ride, please tip your guide! They sure appreciate it...

Can We Bring Snacks and Drinks?

We can provide a soft-sided cooler for any snacks/beverages you want on the water. We do allow alcohol, but have a set of strict guidlines. For your safety and the safety of our guides, no glass bottles, no hard liquor, and please enjoy alcohol in moderation.

When are Full Day Trips Ran?

This is a June ONLY float! Due to water levels, and continuous excitement, we decided to limit the Full Day trips to June.

When is the Upper Stillwater River Trip Running?

This varies due to water levels, however it is typically early to mid June when we are able to run the upper stretch of the river.

What do you consider the Upper Stillwater River Trip?

Our upper stillwater river trip is from Buffalo Jump Fishing Access to Cliff Swallow Fishing Access.
